VOLCANOES IN GAUTEMALA

There are about 30 volcanoes in Guatemala, many active. At night you can see a fascinating sight, as on the slope of the volcano, flows down red lava. Climb Pacaya, Fuego, Acatenango. The soil on their tops is so hot that tourists fry marshmallows there, and unprepared ones melt rubber slippers. Don’t repeat their mistakes – put on nice sneakers. Volcanoes are not bare stone slopes, as one might think, they are covered with forests, and often on them there are many small villages that you can visit to look at the life of the Mayan descendants.

In addition to volcanoes, Guatemala has many crystal clear lakes, and one of the most beautiful is Atitlan. It was formed after a major eruption and is now surrounded by a ring of volcanoes. In addition, the lake has shrouded in legends. They say that under water there is a Mayan city, but so far the legend has not confirmed. The largest lake – Izabal, connects with the Caribbean Sea. On the banks of the Izabal stands the Spanish castle of San Felipe de Lara, from where a beautiful view of the lake is visible. Come here to visit a historical place, go to a restaurant or just have a picnic on the beach.

PERSONAL STORY: ADVENTURE TO MOVE TO GUATEMALA

Why Guatemala? After studying, I could choose a contract for two years in one of the proposed countries of the CIS zone, in some African countries or in Guatemala. I said to myself:“ When, if not now, while I’m not bound by anything, to start an adventure and go where only a few Russians tourists go “.

I did not consider Africa: it seemed to me too unpredictable and dangerous. Before the trip, I had doubts. Guatemala has a high vengeance of crime. Also from Colombia through the country there is a narco traffic to Mexico. Finally, there are a lot of active volcanoes and earthquakes. But curiosity and desire to live in a tropical country were stronger.

Of course, I was worried that I would go to a country where I do not have a single familiar person. But I went to the Russian company pania, so I quickly became familiar, and then friends among compatriots. There are core company with Russian participation, and in 2007 opened embassy of Russia. There are completely different natural and climatic conditions. For example, I used to live without obvious changes of the seasons, because in Guatemala there is always an even warm climate.

THE CITY OF ETERNAL SPRING- GUATEMALA CITY

Round year there are bright colors, ranging from blue skies to luscious greenery and constant flowering. I live in the capital Guatemala City, know as “the city of eternal spring”. It inspired me, and unexpectedly for myself, I took up floristry. I am also very fascinated by people. And the indigenous Mayan people, and Mestizo Guatemalans (descendants of the colonizers) are very open, friendly and helpful.

They are always healthy and smile when you speak to them, the neighbors talk to each other, ask about your business, about your healthy our dog, they themselves begin to tell something. Imperceptibly for myself, I adopted these features and now I cannot imagine how you can communicate in a different way, because it so charges good mood. I went to Guatemala to see a different life and push yourself for endurance.

It was just a temporary command travel with a return ticket, but once made a choice did not lead me to the starting point – Moscow, but became the beginning a completely new life path. Just before the end of my stay, I met a loved one and returned home only for a short time to go back to Guatemala. Now I come to Moscow for a visit, and I perceive Guatemala like my new home. “
